This lute was built by fellow luthier Paul Klemm in 1981. He is offering it up for sale.
It is built as a 7 course lute. All courses are double strung except the top string or chantrelle is single. Strings are nylon and nylon core wrapped in silverplated copper. Tuned to G (low to high) Ff Gg Cc ff aa dd g. This would make an excellent lute for a student.
The finish is traditional
French polish.
Cedar is used for the top
or 'belly'.
The
bowl is constructed of cherry.
Mahogany neck veneered in rosewood
with an ebony fretboard. Traditional hand tied gut is used for
the frets.
Peg box
is curly maple with an ebony back and hand turned plumwood tuning
pegs.
Renaissance lute rose.
Hand made custom fitted case.
